U.S. PORT OF ENTRY

Applicants should be aware that a visa does not guarantee entry into the United States. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has the authority to deny admission. DHS, not the consular officer, determines the length of stay in the U.S. and notes it in the form I-94, Record of Arrival-Departure.

Upon exiting the U.S., an applicant should give the Form I-94 to the airline representative. If an applicant returns home with the Form I-94 still attached to the passport, in order to validate a timely departure, the form must be submitted to the following address.

If travelers repeatedly experience intensive inspections going through Customs and Immigration upon entering the United States, their name, or another person's name that is the same or similar to theirs, may be entered into the CBP data base. If the travelers would like to have the situation reviewed, they may submit a request for redress though the Department of Homeland Security's Traveler Redress Inquiry Program.
